The only time they even mention women’s sports is in their efforts to try to legislate trans women out of public life. Once they are successful at that they will then begin efforts to legislate cis women out of public life with them.

This is why even if I were to accept the simplistic way people on social media now use the term performative I would still reject the description as a criticism since all good protest should have components of performance art

I learned a lot.

An important thing to note is that this study was conducted in 2023 which was fairly early in Musk’s fascist takeover of the app. One can only assume the effects have gotten even stronger since then.

Thousands of institutions abandoned programs, ended or rewrote scholarships, closed down clubs and publications, all in pre-emptive compliance.

And you know why?

Unfortunately if this has followed the path of universities acquiescing in advance and paying bribes, it is often the lawyers who are the ones advocating for it. The role of legal counsel in undermining democracy to avoid lawsuits is an overlooked aspect of this move toward fascism.

As somebody who appreciates the impact that Jairo has had on the field, I can say with certainty that this denial could not have possibly been based on scholarly impact. This was clearly a political decision. What an injustice to Jairo, his students and academic freedom

Seeing a bunch of instagram reels of people translating excepts from Benito Bowl into other languages further proves my point that it represents a vision of the world where language diversity connects us rather than divides us.

This is a good reminder of how neoliberalism got us into this mess and that there is no way that it is going to get us out of it. We need a new more equitable vision to fight for
