Good article. I think the exceptions to this for me are a) romance is a thing that the Persona games consistently get right IMO b) as mentioned in the article, Scarlet Hollow (and as not mentioned, in a very different way, the same developers, Slay The Princess) and c) I Was A Teenage Exocolonist.

I can't say if this is true for all of these games, but I know with Persona at least, there is a lot of showing not telling, both in how the character's actions and inactions reflect on them, but also actually talking about/around and literally showing those scenes that happened to them.
