kinda reminds me of this meme. not the same thing at all but conveys a similar point. i know its not hard to switch platforms, from what i hear, but like if we are gonna chastise anyone for patronizing spotify, or for having their music there, we have to also chastise their low wage workers

it's incredibly difficult to curate your spending & acquirement of resources & essentials & toys alike without patronizing some evil force. we need to do the best we can. if anything, the lecture should be "please do your best" rather than "you have no excuse for using spotify"

i say this as someone who is so angry & grieving so deeply for those affected by oppressive systems, someone who legitimately cares where their $ is spent. it's ok that this is one of your focuses but i can't judge people for this when there are fascists putting us in this situation in the 1st place

i don't have an acct but i can't help but feel chastising individuals for not leaving spotify isn't helpful or effective. i could be wrong though. we should be blaming & putting the pressure on those who cause the problem, rather than those who wanna listen to music & use the most popular platform
