At the time, Congress had not yet declared independence, focusing instead on defending colonial rights against British taxation and control.

On June 15th, John Adams successfully nominated Washington, who was unanimously elected Commander-in-Chief. Washington accepted the position, later insisting he had not sought it and vowed to serve without pay.

Soldiers were enlisted from Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Virginia, marking the first organized military effort for the revolutionary cause. George Washington attended the congressional debates in a buff and blue uniform of his own design, subtly signaling his readiness for command.

Happy 250th to the United States Army!!!

On June 14, 1775, the Second Continental Congress responded to the battles of Lexington and Concord by establishing six companies of riflemen, officially creating the Continental Army.

Reworking an old round-blocked hat for our 1775 Virginia Minute/Rifle Company impression. We've removed the old lining that was greasy, decaying, and inaccurate, to replace it with a new lining using a more accurate pattern.
