Book and animal lover, amateur writer, professional librarian. I love music, but am not a musician. Just trying to get through this day with a bit of love, friendship, humor, and hope. Pizza is good, too.

@lorimajewski.bsky.social Your Lust for Lists is my favorite show to listen to on the treadmill or working out. From one Lori who has been a Duranie since the early 80s to another- thank you for the lists!

Imagine being a "president" of the United States and pardoning the criminal insurrectionists who tried to overturn democracy, threatened to hang a VP, assaulted police officers with flagpoles and other weapons for 5 hours, and shat on the floors of the U.S. Capitol like animals.

A cat is standing behind a lectern, talking to a room full of other cats. He's saying "Yes, a question in the back? Oh, my mistake." One of the cats is raising his paw but he's cleaning his rear end.

Honest mistake

A poem by Langston Hughes titled "Tired". It reads as the following:

"I am so tired of waiting,
Aren't you,
For the world to become good
And beautiful and kind?
Let us take a knife
And cut the world in two --
And see what worms are eating
At the rind."

I've been thinking about this poem by Langston Hughes recently and although it was published in 1931, it remains relevant as ever.

I've always loved REM's cover of "First We Take Manhattan."

So lovely! Thank you for sharing! I am a fan of both Father John Misty and Leonard Cohen, but hadn't heard this version yet.

I absolutely love Eddie Vedder's cover of "Save It For Later". This may be, in part, due to its prevalence in season 3 of The Bear. In any case, I think I actually prefer this cover to the original. Does anyone else have a favorite cover song that you think equals or surpasses the original?

I said I wouldn't join any social media after Instagram, but I heard this place was friendly and that people used mostly correct spelling and grammar. So here I am- a Gen-X librarian navigating this crazy world and menopause simultaneously, hoping for a place to talk books, music, and life.
