I should clarify from a typo in this thread, #Steamdeck and #Steamdock boot great with VRR disabled, once booted up, VRR can be turned on and used without issue. It seems to be the monitor VRR detection during boot that is at fault.

Fingers crossed. Linux has issues generally with VRR but hopefully they get it sorted. In the meantime at least I've got a process to work around it.

I believe the fault lies in the latest #Steamdeck #Steamdock update. I have no experience with the dock prior to the latest update but seen forum posts with similar behavior after updating the dock. It could be a combination of Deck and Dock but it's definitely a flaw in VRR implementation. 4 of 4

Further testing the Dock has determined that having VRR enabled on the #Steamdeck with #Valves dock on boot up causes all the trouble. Enabling VRR after it boots up works flawlessly during boot up, black screens. Disabling VRR before shutting down eliminates the issue. 3 of ...

The fix to the awful #Windows11 25h2 start menu was pretty easy actually, and no it wasn't to install Linux, although..... No. Just changed Categorization to List and Done. The categorization looks like some kind of delusional AI incorrectly interpreted what was installed. Truly Awful.

Finished #Kena:BridgeofSpirits tonight. I really liked it once I turned the difficulty down a bit around half way through. Glad it had a difficulty option because I just wouldn't have bothered trying to finish it otherwise. Really good game though. #VideoGames #SteamDeck
