Tony, my show has a range of views on it, and yesterdayβs discussion came from two long-serving political journalists drawing on years of experience covering Westminster. What youβve linked to was written by someone who openly describes themselves as βactive in politics, in the Labour Partyβ

My surname is a source of great pride for me.
I know it can be a mouthful, and it isn't the easiest to spell. I was even advised by some senior politicians to shorten it.
However as I told @mattchorley.bsky.social earlier - that was simply never an option. #HolocaustMemorialDay

Weβre going to have to respectfully disagree on this. Some people like Tory voices, some donβt. We have a responsibility to provide a range of voices, and the experience of people who have been in government can be useful as part of the mix. Have a good evening

There is nothing wrong at all with holding guests to account while also being polite and human, and producing a show which is informative and entertaining to listen to. Thatβs true of politicians of all parties. Reform, Tory, Labour, Lib Dem, Green, SNP, Plaid all come on the show

Across broadcasters there can been an issue with getting shadow cabinet/frontbench on (and numbers mean there arenβt many non-frontbench). So to get Conservative voices it sometimes requires some former MPs/ministers (who actually might have experience of the briefs in government)

He is a former education secretary who introduced many of the academy reforms which are changed by the new bill. Tbh I speak to far more βformersβ than currents. Always happy to have shadow cabinet - not through lack of asking
