It's a weird one. More worth playing as 'case study' then something thats necessarily an amazing game but ther are some fantastic mechanics in there

The only other game I'd ever wanna make is probably a modernized Oni spiritual successor (idk why all my ideas are GITS-adjacent in some way) with seamless gun-fu mechanics. I never really see anyone attempting anything like that nowadays.

So, in conclusion if anyone wants to give me 1) A team and 2) Funding I can make this game that 8 people will ever play, happen

The fact that GITS is my favorite movie also is completely coincidental to me liking this game, since aside from being the same "IP" and (amazing) cinematics directed by Shirow himself it has virtually nothing to do with GITS

Like the mobility mechanics and 'fun factor' they managed to nail down is honestly remarkable. A lot about it is janky and broken but a mecha based game with fast-pased hades mechanics and GITS-game movement abilities would go hard imo

People often ask why I don't "make a game" and the answer is because I just have no "ideas" for a game that id be passionate enough about to want to commit to multi-year dev cycle. However, after playing the PS1 GITS game I can't stop thinking about how cool a modernized knock-off would be

That's good to know! My understanding was that win11 basically turns all that bullshit back on with every update but maybe this script also takes care of that.

lol its funny GITS is prob my favorite movie/overall work of "media" ever but ive never seen innocence. the like cell shaded CGI style just made me avoid it bc it seemed like such a downgrade compared to the restraint and sophistication of how the original looked. maybe ive been too harsh tho
