I mean it's a matter of what's probable, especially within the scope of humanity's increasingly limited lifespan. Like technically there's no law of physics that says wizards or vampires aren't possible, but that sort of criteria doesn't get us very far.

Right, the definition of precursor I was using initially is "a step towards AGI". Absolutely nobody has demonstrated, even on atheoretical level, that AGI is even possible at all, let alone that machine learning in its current form is currently in any way a step towards it.

At best maybe there'll be a clair obscur situation where *some* AI use is visible, but if the devs are smart they'll go out of their way to hide it and not front-load it.

The idea of some "killer app" AI-heavy game that will eventually break the taboo and 'normalize' heavy use of AI in creative products is largely BS, because almost everyone i've seen using AI has no good ideas or taste. The average AI 'short film' is like "father reconciles with son" lol
