Blue Embers was written in that never-ending, always-ending space. If it weren’t for music, that space would be harder and harder to see through. And if you’re in there right now, know that you’re not alone, that it does open up, and that there’s beauty on the other side you can’t even imagine.
So when you’re thinking that it’s never gonna end, remember that it does. And it can be beautiful, if you let it be.
Even when you’ve convinced yourself that it would never do that. Not for you. But then it does. When you let it do what it has to do to you. And when you do, it just keeps opening and opening over and over until the thing that seemed never ending is only a memory.
But then if you hold on long enough, it does.
There’s always something inviting you to the next thing.
Everything is overwhelming.
Everything always feels like it’s always coming to an end.
And the feeling that it’s all ending seems never ending.
But it does end. And then things open up. But before it opens, it seems like it won’t. Like it couldn’t possibly ever open up.
Everything is overwhelming.

We came across this sunset in the middle of Richmond, VA during a recent trip to visit Tyler and Jon in their hometown. After The Setting Sun felt like the perfect way to remember the moment, and we're so glad to share this powerful trio version with you now. Enjoy ✨ youtu.be/G0SxBs8zPj4
This journey happens every few years and it’s thrilling to see it take shape once again, in a new, joy filled way.
To feel the limitations of our abilities and the way we all become producers when it’s time to commit to tape.
How do we take it a step further? How do we honor the magical fated situation we find ourselves in? After a long time recording separately in isolation for Every Shade Of Blue, we needed to feel the chemistry of being in a room together again.
Though we’re such different people, our compasses all seem to point in the same direction at the same time. Aperture is no different. Each record can be seen as a reaction to what we created before.
Every album tells a story. The making of it, the life lived in the off times… there’s something magical that happens with these six people where we all come together around an unspoken idea each time we feel the need to get in the studio.
