Trump will never know what real mass celebrations in the streets look like or how fantastic they will be.

What we always knew it would be - another transfer of wealth to the wealthy. $133 Billion collected by the government, the vast majority of it passed on by importers to consumers, now to be refunded to those importers - but never down to the consumer.
Let me guess: "We didn't vote for this!"
It's been 40 years since Challenger; a full generational flip in leadership. Even the most junior engineers and managers present that day are very likely gone.
All it takes for history to start repeating is leadership no longer having a personal connection to tragedies and failures of the past.
If only it were that easy.

I work for a Really Big Company. Over the past 5 years, proposal writing has transitioned away from the old school human "color team" approach to AI tools, like Rohirrim/others.
There is a direct and *inverse* relationship between percent of AI contribution and win rate. There's a "reality check".
I think I've learned everything I need to know about Machado and her potential to help the Venezuelan people from this one picture.

I'll put on my cynic hat for a moment. Had opportunity to observe protests in several different cities around the country over the past 10 months.
While a substantial number of people are invested in the protest, roughly half are either mildly interested lookie-lou's or social media clickbait types.
Things are likely going to have to get a whole lot worse before the average American is ready to face down an active firing line.
Revolutionary War timeline refresher: The Boston Massacre occurred in 1770. The war didn't start until 5 years later.
I think you "misunderestimate" the percentage of willing bad actors in federal law enforcement today.
I think it's entirely credible that every ICE unit has at least one member who's ready to fire into a crowd today, especially now they know command will lie as necessary to protect them.
I think you're making an assumption here that the response to protest will not escalate faster than the protest itself.
We are rapidly approaching the day when they fire indiscriminately into a crowd because "they feared for their lives".
I hope this is true!

Misleading story @reuters.com. Holsey announced his early retirement and stepped down from his position before the first boat murder event.
The guy who should be retiring early, as an E-1 with forfeiture of all pay and allowances, and prosecuted is Bradley.
The Justice Department has waged an unprecedented campaign to intimidate states into handing over votersβ private information.
The goal, as @abbyvesoulis.bsky.social & @ariberman.bsky.social report, could result in the unprecedented harassment of individual citizens like you and me.

β¬120 Million is insufficient to force a change in behavior. They need to add 3 zeros if they want to be taken seriously.
By analogy, how many people would worry about parking illegally if the fine was only 10 cents? Add 3 zeros, make it $100, rules get followed.
Seems like this qualifies as "taxation without representation", and I think most of us learned what happened the last time that message a rallying cry.

It's almost like they're really not Alphas.
I've come to the realization that I share nothing in common with people who "believe" things.
To paraphrase the little green guy, "Know or know not. There is no believe".
For a fine to be effective as deterrent, it must be sufficiently consequential to force a change in behavior.
This fine, as huge as it may seem to any random person on the street, is - in context of who will pay it - is equivalent to a 1 cent speeding ticket.
Read a book. The past is both linear and fixed. The Soviet Union did not exist in 1994.
