It’s loads harder having to use 7 letter words! But got it
Happy National Moth Week. I've been mothing for many years now and I love them so much.
That’s fab!
That’s the kick up the backside I needed to just do this … I’ve been dithering for a year!
Looking up #lochsheil towards Glenfinnan from opposite Gaskan. Dodging the showers.
I’ll do my best!
You’re not filling me with confidence!
Thanks for the id clarification. And yes, I’m pining for spring too. Fresh sprinkling of snow on the hills here, but it does feel like we’re getting there
Nooo, you’re not allowed cryptic clues! I’d thought Cladonia verticillata. I’m now hoping you’re making a more visual reference to daffodils!
I keep promising myself that next winter I will focus on learning the local Cladonia species …. In the meantime here’s a mystery Cladonia

A first for me … Spring Hazelcups, on the Isle of Luing #fungifriends
The hazel outside the office is flowering!
Thanks! It was just ridiculously large. I’m used to madly luxuriant Lobaria pulmonaria but this was unexpected
Headed out of my usual west coast territory to the Cairngorms where I found this huge lichen (hand for scale). Possibly Ramalina fraxinea. Any thoughts?! #lichens
I’m sorry, but your typos have cheered me up hugely!
New to me too! We’ve got norvegica and citrina locally which I’ve only ever seen in smaller patches. This was just so abundant in a small area
I’m intrigued by the records out on the Shiants and St Kilda
I’ll have to have a look at that!
Fabulous day on Kintyre with great collection of #lichens including large patches of Pseudocyphellaria intricata.
Brilliant idea!
That’s gorgeous!
I love that phrase “where the lichens grow free”.
Usnea subfloridana blown off a tree in recent storms #lichen
That is a thing of wonder and beauty!
I’ve decided I’m obviously an adrenaline junkie … whether it’s a Pink Floyd tribute or chasing a wildlife experience. Same rush and buzz. Though to be fair I sang less at the gannets .
Lovely to see you here!
Swapping west coast lichens for exotics in the Glasgow botanic gardens. My sort of city break
