This book came out a year ago. Had a great tour, a glowing NYT review, and was on NPR. It didn’t blow up. Not a bestseller. Didn’t get optioned. Won nothing. Didn’t earn out. Now I have no contract and I’m struggling with the next one. Being a writer is an endless war of attrition. Time to write!

Fascinating to pick up this village history and find tales of demon cows, ghost watches and strange moon-gifts instead. Is The Culbin Sands by George Bain really a folk #horror novel?
