I just want to go in there and give every one of them a hug. No words, just a real, emotionally open and unguarded hug. With Dele. He's my co-hugger in this scenario.
TIL that sharks are older than:
* Trees
* Saturn's rings
* The North Star
* James Milner's professional football career
Big Martin Jol's coming back, along with his brothers - Cock and Dick.
Fuck it.
Feeling called out here π π
He was more culpable than anyone for the poor 2019-20 season and the club needed to move on from him in a new era at the new Stadium, he had delivered all that he had ever hoped to provide for the club. The club needed new leadership at the top and a change of approach to the football side.
but without the man's experience.
The club has institutionalised underachievement. It has forgotten how to win instantly after finally re-learning the feat and every person at the club is complicit.
When Pochettino was sacked, the man who should have gone in that moment was almost certainly Levy.
Immediately, the one man who had presided over every decision made for 25 years was gone, soon after its talismanic, iconic forward and the club's last meaningful connections to the Pochettino era were gone. The Tottenham Hotspur today remains a strong echo of every decision Levy ever made,
And the club did as he warned it would, they appointed a pragmatist, a man who could talk about attacking and risk, but appeared not to understand what that truly looked like or how to deliver it. But more than that, he had left a club with stability and a structure, for one in flux.
Then. Ange provided a light in the dark, not only was there some swashbuckling football, but there was a manager who would stand up for Spurs and who managed to start and finish 2 seasons in a row. But the rot was already too embedded. Unprecedented injuries, suspensions, questionable signings.
And never came close to committing to the scale of rebuild required. Squad planning & squad building became secondary to providing a small number of players each window to meet the contemporary manager's needs. A mis-mash squad made up of players recruited for different managers, styles & objectives
𧡠In the 18 months leading up to the Champions League final, if someone suggested that, in not backing Pochettino with the squad overhaul he wanted, the club was setting itself up on a journey towards a relegation battle within 10 years, 99.9% of fans would describe that outlook as ridiculous.
Hot Shots the Third pitch - The year is 2126, the USA has become an Idiocracy style mess. The evil (but still stupid and delusional) descendant of President Tug Benson is POTUS and is using Nineteen Eighty-Four as 'how to' guide for ruling but is hindered by his comical obsession with golf/gulfs.
Will Romero never change??
But what if I like my pleasure spiked with pain?? www.youtube.com/watch?v=vV8I...
This is how to show up and be a good ally btw: giving credit *exactly* when itβs due.
Love Andy Murray. πΎ

Oh, yikes. Yeah, that's definitely more problematic.
This is a feeble excuse. Pixar films prompt much harder conversations about death, grief, anxiety, environmental disaster, betrayal, jealousy, friendships, class, animal rights, etc, etc
So much this. (And therapy/counselling is something that should not just be readily available on the NHS but also recommended as part of routine care, like childhood vaccinations and BP monitoring.)
Which version and why? π€
Yes, and it really is that simple β€οΈ
I'm a Chris-tofu-ashist. I believe in the teachings of Chris, and the symbolism of burning tofu so that we, like it, may be cleansed of our blandness.
Right? They're not looking for a big philosophical argument, they're just seeing something that is novel to them and they're curious about it. "Why does my friend have two mums?" isn't that different to any other question, to them.
Anger is 100% the right response here.
Agreed. I don't get why people can't just let children be themselves. They'll face enough societal oppression as adults, at least let them have their childhood.
This, so much this. Any perception about these conversations being awkward is entirely from the adult's pov. Children are curious but they are also accepting. Son once asked me if boys can marry boys, I said yes, he just nodded and said okay. Curiosity sated, no drama.
Happy International Women's Day everyone. (November 19th)
She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, for instance... like, that show is more queer than any show that is actively marketed as being queer. It makes Queer As Folk look straight. No questions, just love. Especially for Scorpia for some reason π€·
My kids have watched plenty of LGBTQIA+ friendly programmes, and not once has it ever lead to them asking a question I wasn't comfortable answering. Honestly, it doesn't even lead to that many questions. People love people. What is there to ask about?
Thor Ragnarok on the other hand... π
I can't imagine not being ready for that kind of conversation with my children. Actually, I'd have to try hard to imagine even *needing* that conversation with my children π€·
