'Publishing is an industry that has often proclaimed itself to be on the brink of collapse; yet the persistence of books tells a different story.' EXCEPTIONALLY proud of co-Tramp Lisa Coen for this clear-eyed, straight-up introduction to essays on women's writing in Ireland of the last decade

I was really honoured to be asked to contribute an introduction to this excellent collection of essays! It was an eye-opening opportunity to consider how much has changed since we started Tramp Press in 2014.

I second Paul Murray's "The Bee Sting"; though with one caveat - it is very, very long. Would also recommend Caoilinn Hughes' "Orchid & the Wasp" - a picaresque tale that follows its formidable heroine from Ireland to the Occupy Wall Street protests in NYC.

It’s publication week for Tales of Health, a book that brings a medical humanities framework to the Romantic genre of the National Tale and its questions of health and citizenship.

English majors were mocked for years. Now they're gaining momentum in the AI job market. For years, English majors were mocked as useless. Now, AI is giving them some momentum in the job market, while computer science grads get disrupted.

"it's time for ideas, people, and critical thinkers to flourish. That means that, after years of mocking, English majors are finally getting recognized for their usefulness."

Illustration from a medieval manuscript showing a figure in armor operating a large crossbow, with a humorous modern caption "when you've been invited to a meeting that could have been an email." The background includes detailed floral designs.

Big Monday energy 😅

Cover of The Corpse in Modern Irish Literature, showing a water colour of mourners carrying a coffin towards a ruined church, with a man looking on in the foreground and two windswept, rather Beckettian trees in the background.

Out in February from @livunipress.bsky.social: The Corpse in Modern Irish Literature. The book started as a lockdown tweet. Delighted that it’s finally done! With Bridget English and @drreznicek.bsky.social
