Media need to report on this as they report on other baseless claims of the antivax movement, bc the lunatics are running the asylum at the FDA.

The institution is compromised. Make it clear who made this decision and how little work they showed *in the headline*. Donโ€™t confuse the public further.

Literally buying one copy of a book at your local indie bookstore can mean the difference in whether they buy future books from that author.

Headlines like this are extremely dangerous. Because moms of young kids are the people who make the bulk of the vaccine decisions for famillies. And for a lot of them, "reading the news" looks like scrolling past headlines on social media in the spare moments of the chaos of caring for kids.

Iโ€™m just going to repost this seasonally when I have the wherewithal, because everything we see from mid-November through Christmas is pushing sales like Cyber Monday.

But the demand they create puts Amazon workers at greater risk than usual (already above industry average) for serious injuries.

โ€œEmbarrassingโ€ and โ€œhorrifyingโ€: CDC workers describe the new vaccines and autism page "The best way I can put it is it feels like we're on a hijacked airplane."

Earlier this week, a new page titled โ€œVaccines and Autismโ€ appeared on the CDC website. The agency's employees are not happy about it.

We finally know the identities of the 9 anonymous authors of the May HHS report on pediatric gender-affirming care. Surprise! It's stacked with people who make money advocating against pediatric gender-affirming care.

National Cancer Institute is accelerating scientific discovery with Google Al

This is embarrassing from Google.

The Natโ€™l Cancer Institute (part of #NIH) is being torn down from inside, in part by fools who think AI can entirely replace human cancer scientists.
And Google is buying ads that donโ€™t mention the destruction?

Thatโ€™s cowardice, Google newsfromgoogle.bsky.social

Is NIH cutting corners as it rushes to fill leadership positions? Unlike in the past, agency searches appear to exclude help from outside academic researchers

NIH is ramping up efforts to fill a huge slate of vacant leadership positions.

Onlookers worry the process is being rushed and will depart, as it already has in one case, from the long-standing practice of drawing on advice from academic scientists to find candidates. https://scim.ag/47HraVv

A bad thing is unfolding at NIH this week: It looks like the Trump administration is trying to replace key civil servant scientific leaders, the Institute Directors, with political hires. These directors control the NIH budget, tens of billions.

She's 93 and still job searching despite 14 broken arms and other injuries. She can't afford not to work. America's oldest workers keep clocking in โ€” many despite health issues and disabilities. And some can't afford to retire. We talked to nearly 200.

It's expensive to be disabled. Those costs can keep people working past the point where it's in their best interest, including for aging adults. www.businessinsider.com/older-americ...
