every time you tried to have a discussion about captive wildlife on twt it would get derailed by 20 year old furries who thought they were fucking hilarious for saying “I assumed you were publicly admitting to fucking dogs”

I’m not even anti zoo so long as they’ve got good husbandry and public education but the extremely common desire to put every cute wild animal in a box so you can pet it *when it’s convenient to you* and treat it like a commodity bums me out

this appears to have happened with hyraxes over the past couple of years too, people are keeping them as housepets now??

unfortunate you have to specifically look for images of wild capybaras bc the image results are flooded with them in roadside petting zoos or pet cafes :/ leave those thangs alone…..
