We've decided to install Bazzite on my boyfriend's PC~

I know correlation does not equal causation, but it feels real suspect to me that this issue perfectly matches the Windows 11 Phison SSD issue that was reported back in August, and it happened only after moving from Windows 10 to 11.

Microsoft claimed it was related to beta firmware, but all of this is off-the-shelf, retail hardware.

Gonna be spending my day helping boyfriend fix some PC issues. He moved over to Windows 11 the other day, started downloading some games through Steam, and was quickly hit with SSD write issues on his only-months-old games drive. His PC no longer recognises it.

Fucking hell...

You can also "try before you buy" with a lot of distros just by booting up a live USB, giving you a chance to make sure it's compatible with your machine before you install it.

There are compatibility issues with specific software? But it's a better fit for more folks than people would realise!

With Windows 10 losing support this month, it might be worth it for some people to try out Linux? An easy-to-use distro like Mint could help extend the life of a PC that's incompatible with Win 11, and for general purpose use and gaming (so long as it's not competitive), it's pretty viable!
