An informed, compelling and grim take on fall of English Literature in education and in our wider culture by @daisychristo.bsky.social. I hope there can be a cultural shift that sees the traditions of reading come back to the fore but I struggle to see just how right now.
16.11.2024 23:03 β π 16 π 6 π¬ 0 π 0What an honour to have a chapter in this fabulous book. Big thanks to @jofacer.bsky.social and the whole ResearchEd shebang
02.10.2024 15:00 β π 2 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0A brilliant blog which really hits the nail on the head of the pitfalls of using assessment materials to teach. [Effective teaching] "needs the space created by not imitating the assessment over and over"
15.09.2024 18:03 β π 2 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0Congratulations!
11.09.2024 18:09 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Suddenly realised I was an NQT 10 years ago! Being trained by the amazing @jofacer.bsky.social (lucky me) in an incredible school in Islington. Still feel privileged to work in this profession. Any other decennials celebrating?
11.09.2024 15:20 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I will be talking at #rED24 about professional development at scale. My premise is that most of it doesnβt have impact BUT there are some ways we can and should change that! Join me in K31 in session 2 if you want to know more.
07.09.2024 05:58 β π 7 π 3 π¬ 1 π 0Oh he basically is. You know, without the hubris and betrayal.
06.09.2024 12:28 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Amazing dept meeting yesterday discussing core elements of lit texts run by our fab HoD. Julius Ceasar - the tension between the threat of tyranny vs the threat of civil war, alongside the power of rhetoric. Love teaching English
06.09.2024 09:08 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0This will be amazing.
05.09.2024 10:38 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0We are going to be at #REd24 #ResearchEd National Conference.
Session 1, M23
Come along and find out how weβve improved the work of English leads and quality of KS2 writing across a whole city and the research base for our work.
Def agree. So much quicker and easier to change a slide deck though (for all their flaws)

I also (sorry) have never seen a booklet Iβm happy to teach from, unless made by me, for one particular class. Not saying it doesnβt exist butβ¦ I aint found it yet
Reluctant to open this debate again, but I love/hate booklets. Keen to know how people get over the negatives:
Love - all the obvious things. Workload, collective planning, clarity, clear pathways etc.
Hate - so hard to adapt. Can add to workload when theyβre not appropriate for my
Aahhh lovely blue skies and Catalan architecture β€οΈ. Also that book broke my heart

21.08.2024 19:56 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0For all its shortcomings & limitations, thereβs some impressive power in using AI to summarise and interpret. I gave Claude.AI a complex, dense table about βexam progression matricesβ and asked it to interpret. Hereβs the impressive thing that happened next. www.informededucation.com/analysing-ed...
20.08.2024 07:54 β π 8 π 5 π¬ 2 π 0A book titled βall about SEMH: a practical guide for primary teachersβ the publisher βa speech mark bookβ is indicated bottom left. Top right is the series which is βall about SENDβ. The book cover is half yellow with a green circle in the middle with the title in blue and white. The bottom half of the book is squirly patterns in yellows, reds, blues and green
Have you had a chance to read any of my All About SEMH books? Perhaps you want to buy them for your staff team or for your own CPD. If youβve read them I would love you to write a review as it helps others make a choice on what they spend their money on. #SEND #SEMH #EduSky #UKed
