They love stuff with a clear result (like YCHs or eye/head banners) and minimal effort to order (skeb, "surprise me"): just drop a character ref, pay, and wait.

It’s often not even about the price or that your skill "isn't good enough for comms".

Most people don’t really want to order a custom illustration where they have to come up with the whole concept, write a clear, detailed description, and gather a bunch of refs for every little thing.

If that’s the only thing you’re offering - you might be missing a big part of the audience...
