But the public libraries in tiny Jefferson County in Northern Appalachia were in danger of losing their tax funding thanks to right-wing book banners. And we won. The library's funding is safe!!!!!

Libraries can’t be everything. We can’t house the homeless, file taxes for the elderly, translate into other languages, provide masks for an entire community, and give free WiFi. At some point libraries need actual govt social services depts to step in. Oh, and books. 📚

I’m in a class right now for archival studies. Our readings this week discuss the “challenges” that archives face and you can bet I was right up there with “when the president want to erase history and defund museums/libraries/archives”!!

For years I’ve been saving cards, ticket stubs, photos, notes we write each other, predictions, etc. I cut a hole in a sealed box and I poke them inside and I’ve carried that box from house to house as we’ve moved all around. Today we opened it! #TwentyYears
