Another case of HPAI-contaminated raw diet has led to illness and death in more cats. We continue to advise pet owners to take precautions with their pets' exposure to HPAI and avoid undercooked food.

A cat in a hazardous material suit tapes off lilies with a tape that says "Easter lilies kill kitties." The captions on the image say "Grooming pollen off their fur can lead to poisoning. Eating less than one leaf or flower an cause kidney failure! Keep Easter lilies out of your home if you have cats." The image is sourced from cathealth.com
Lilies are beautiful but are fatal to cats!
The best way to avoid tragedy is to keep lilies out of your home if you have cats.
"False lilies" are safer for cats. Daylilies, cana lilies, and Peruvian lilies are far safer to have in the home with cats.

Avian influenza A (H5N1) in cats
Since the U.S. outbreak of avian influenza A (H5N1) in dairy cattle began in March 2024, dozens of cats are known to have contracted the virus, including barn and feral cats, indoor cats, and big cats...
The AVMA has published new guidance on H5N1 in cats. Do NOT feed raw diets or unpasteurized dairy to your cat and keep your cat indoors to prevent contracting the illness.
Early signs of bird flu are depression, lethargy, discharge from the eyes and nose, and neurological signs like circling.
