A Botanical Daughter is going to Brazil!

She’s appearing as A Criatura do Jardim, in her new dark cover, HARDBACK, and with sprayed damn edges 😍

The main characters in A Botanical Daughter both have silent letters in their names, X+Y:

Rievaulx is a ruined abbey in Yorkshire, gothic and austere like Simon

Sandys sounds like Sands, a reference to ‘Inspector Sands’ which is a common code for a fire (iykyk)

The pain of writing a banger of a sentence knowing no one will read it for probably years at this point!

Human authors cannot coexist with GenAI.

The gardener carefully removes all invasive, self-sowing species of plants. If she didn’t, her whole garden would become a monoculture of weeds.

If we want richly diverse human stories tomorrow, we cannot tolerate GenAI today.

Shout out to my therapist who researched some literary references I’d made last session, and came back armed with profound insight into the characters and how they relate to me 😭😭😭

Much love to the protesters today in London, and anybody making noise about it online.

To those of us supporting online, remember to reach out beyond author spaces — we need to change the public’s hearts on this.

I’ve learned the hard way recently that the public aren’t with us yet

My writing is the most vulnerable part of me. I share myself gladly with readers, in the hope that they might resonate with my pain and my hope. Meta has stolen that work and used it to power their chat bot.

I finished reading it and it was SO DAMN GOOD! This was the best book I have read in a very long time. The story is well-paced, the characters are perfectly imperfect and the language is so delightfully witty! Go read „A Botanical Daughter“ !!! #ABotanicalDaughter

If you’d like a big hug from a plant monster, can I suggest Cʜʟᴏᴇ from A Botanical Daughter?

🌱 tender and inquisitive
🌱 made from 100% recycled materials
🌱 biological imperative to kill for you
🌱 mossy in all the right places

Time to write the most crucial component of any Noah Medlock novel:

A tersely worded and devastating letter

The horror author in me is fascinated by how wrong traditional versions get Puck. He screams forest entity, pagan/demonic changeling, obsessed with the revenant dead.

Playful, yes. But both the subject and object of horror. Oof this is gonna be good!

I am VIBRATING with excitement to say that I’ll be playing Puck in a few months here in York!

My plan is to have a pretty clean draft of this eldritch ballet horror by the one year anniversary of A Botanical Daughter

I just need to get a chapter out a day (these chapters are short at ~1000 words each) ?

🤔 AI powered search is frequently inaccurate, and if it doesn’t know something it will make it up
😳 Surrendering your sensitive data to it trains the model
