Quick test of my current system project. Ledge grabs & a Tictac vertical wall run. I'm still trying to figure some things out, maybe redo it next week without the ledge grab to see why it's so wonky. The wall traces are wrong, & it shouldn't be able to do it continuously. Otherwise, great success.

"Squeeze holes" are a great example of something that served a purpose, became a common feature of AAA games, and now persist despite no longer serving that purpose.

Now you have games and demos that include them issue a disclaimer about how they *aren't* loading!

And then this here is some of the bare basics for 5.6 in general. Since the FP mesh is literally just the TP template with an IK rig that deforms it, this should work as well. Both Kingboars and Mizzo Frizzo are devs I personally trust.

Really liking the new First Person template in UE5!
But just a heads-up, thereโ€™s a bug in Unreal 5.6.1 where the arena shooter doesnโ€™t load the correct Blueprints by default. Check my image for the right settings for BP_FirstPersonGameMode. #gamedev #ue5

It sort of does? But It annoys me that the Arena Shooter template doesn't load the Arena Shooter map by default. Whose decision was it to load the default First Person map?

Then I remembered how disengaged I feel when AI play the same map for the thousandth time and people play the same loops the same way, and I wondered what if multiplayer maps were procedurally generated? Set the loops and overall shape, but change details procedurally to ensure fresh gameplay?

Watching a video on multiplayer FPS map design and my brain lit up at the concept of "noise" vs "signal." Too much "noise" creates uncertainty, and players won't push the gameplay loops. Too much "signal" and they don't feel engaged by the gameplay loops.

How potato is it? I'm trying to find out what the absolute physically lowest end I can get my game to run on, especially since 5.6 is the most stable version yet. It requires less processing, and I want my game to run on my wife's ~10 y/o garbage pail.
