Kena Kitchengs is another Salzberg Residency finalist, based in Toluca, Mexico. Her proposal revolves around the feral goats released on the Galápagos in the 1800s, causing major environmental damage; several have been captured, fitted with tracking collars, and released again: Judas Goats.
Amanda Thackray is another Salzberg Residency finalist, based in Newark, NJ. Her proposed creative project revolves around a journey circumnavigating the archipelago of Svalbard in the Arctic that included hand papermaking on site & an experience that ultimately yielded more questions than answers.
Katie Chung is one of three finalists for JCBA’s next Salzberg Residency. Her proposal revolves around her immigrant mother’s story and dry cleaning shop in Chicago. The hanbok is made from dry cleaning tags; the piece in the handmade box is made from sewing pins and a dry cleaning hanger.
