Writing is a muscle. If it doesn't hurt a little, you aren't growing. A rejected pitch will make you mentally stronger for the next one. Keep swinging, keep missing, and eventually, you’ll start hitting.

If you want to transform from "writer" to writer, you need to stop thinking about the story and actually finish your script. No one is going to create an opportunity for you, you need to create your own.
Good morning! What steps are you taking to turn your goals into accomplishments?
It’s 2026, let's chat about leveling up.
Looking back at 2025, I would describe it as mid.
Word for 2026: redemption.
Here are my goals:
1. Get to 195 pounds
2. Hit 300 subs on Substack
3. Kickstart Dead Laughter
What are your goals?
Remember not to compare your path to others accomplishments!
Find your comic family: Search for other new creators looking to break in. Usually, these creators are interacting with the Pros and asking process questions.
Learn together: Use each other to motivate yourselves to finish your scripts and don’t be forget to share your ideas.
New to writing comics? In order to survive creating comics, I recommend you build your comic family.

Start small: Write shorts. Start with an 1 page story.

For a long time, I dreamed of having my local comic book shop advertise my name for their Free Comic Book Day event.
Guess what I unlocked?
I asked this penguin how it feels to be tariffed and they said “what’s a tariff? Also I’m a puffin.”
They also didn’t know what a comic was, but Rise of the Flightless is still accepting submissions!
