Please spread this far and wide, as stories don't get much bigger than this. When the government blocks even the intelligence services from telling us we're heading for environmental catastrophe, you know we have a problem. A very big problem.
Thank you.

i went through that recently. admitting it to myself and others was the first real stage of healing.

I strongly feel The Secret World was the greatest MMORPG ever made ๐
I literally had this conversation with someone last week ๐ I was like, "I'm such a Funcom fangirl" but then I paused and reflected and was like "actually... now that I think about it, all my happy Funcom associations are just Ragnar Tornquist games..."

Ragnar is one of my all-time favourite game developers, having made two of my all-time favourite video games, The Secret World and The Longest Journey, both of which are masterclasses in their respective genres
(i'm currently replaying TLJ right now)
highly recommend following his studio's latest!
are you sure about that?
27.01.2026 16:06 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 1I have yet to hear a single argument that justifies the 30%
15% for platform makes sense. They should not be the place making the profits. The workers should be the ones that retain the majority of the profits. We don't do that anymore. Since when do middlemen and hypemen get all the praise?
I'm talking about their digital distribution stores. I'm not interested in talking with you anymore
27.01.2026 15:37 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Not to derail, but I think this is also a very important visual for talking about why billionaires (and god forbid trillionaires like we're getting close to) should be taxed out of existence.
27.01.2026 15:35 โ ๐ 21 ๐ 2 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Steam existed before the rest of those. who set the standard?
i'm not interested in fighting all the bad guys at once. that doesn't work.
Valve is a privately owned company who sails on goodwill. that is an actionable cause.
exactly this
we are all walking balls of marketing programmes, it already happened, it's too late. they got you when you were a toddler
but we can learn to be and think better
be simultaneously intelligent and humble enough to admit you might be able to be tricked or be conditioned into accepting unacceptable things as normal things, and you'll probably be all right
but read some resistance literature just in case
there's no one more susceptible to propaganda than someone who thinks they're immune to propaganda
this is why genuinely smart people get scammed or fall into insane cults *all the time*
Steam being a relatively small, privately owned company vs the rest of those massive international publicly-traded companies is a reason for that difference
27.01.2026 15:22 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0they can have zero competitors and still not financially strangle the devs that make them their money
27.01.2026 14:55 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0that was included in the original thread I linked but I should really include it in this main thread, thank you for bringing it up. it is deeply fucked up, yes!
27.01.2026 14:43 โ ๐ 5 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Chantal is right. 30 percent is, frankly, scandalous. Developers toiling away, studios struggling to keep the lights on, all while Valve generates billions every year.
27.01.2026 12:20 โ ๐ 18 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 3 ๐ 0this hits more than ever in this starvation-times era of the industry where thousands are out of work and studios are struggling for any financial viability to keep going
I really hope people are finally waking up
I'm actually critiquing Valve very directly within the sphere of capitalism. they have artfully created a good guy persona while cultivating a monopoly wherein they bleed smaller studios dry/have them fight for scraps in valve's pursuit of mind-boggling profit
i'd like people to wake up & protest
please retweet for science

Are you a dev making a "Fake OS", Interface based game a la Her Story, The Operator, Desktop Explorer... or Imprinted? : D
We are organizing a dedicated steam sale and would love to include your game as well!!
