The prevailing question on the Left now seems to be, “How do we stop Trump from destroying the country?” I believe that fighting him tooth and nail may be a mistake. We have to let the mainstream Republicans see what an utter disaster their leader is going to be, and be there to say, “See?” 1/

The Republicans are gloating. The Democrats are panicking. When we come out of this in four years, Trump will be a civilian forever and subject to the laws of the land. He will be the pathetic person he is for the rest of his life, and America will be tasked with picking up the pieces.

Senator @maziehirono.bsky.social has made it a habit for years to ask this question of every nominee - man or woman - at their confirmation hearing. When Hirono, who sits on the Senate Armed Svcs Committee, asks this question of DOD Secy nominee Peter Hegseth, the answer will be disqualifying.

Repubs in the Senate & House, just know that once you cross the rubicon of politicizing aid to victims of natural disasters, that is a road that you don’t want to go down. Especially since your states seem to have a lot more of them, & you tend to lose your majorities quickly.
