All hail the OG mermaids.

I've gotten in the habit of looking up the credentials of every dingbat that posts this kind of crap. I really wish society would come up with more prefixes beyond calling everything "doctor". A lot of people try to make themselves out to be a different kind of doctor than they are.

Her doctorate is from en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Institu... , which was unaccredited. She's a therapist with sketchy educational credentials, not a medical doctor.

Good riddance. Still, what a waste of time and effort.

Maaaaan... if any of those involved are looking to be reelected, this is great for the opposition. Anyone who approved that waste of money should be forced to justify their logic and expect to explain in depth why they should ever be in a position to waste that much of the city's budget again.

The downside to never witnessing the horrors that existed before vaccines is that people can ignore that there's a reason for why we vaccinate. I think a lot of them genuinely are under the delusion that the historical record is inaccurate or exaggerated, if they have actually ever read any of it.

When the goal is getting as much attention as possible, being rewarded for it, of course people are going to do anything for attention. It is such a problem. There's more reason to act badly than not, if you think about it.

My poor kid has a ton of hair. Now she's also going to have the concern of moving to another dye and hoping it doesn't react to the existing Manic Panic.

21.02.2026 20:18 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

They're leaning into the idea that since they've been "good" in the past, since they're a woman/latina owned company, they should get a pass or that it doesn't matter. That their mom being an artist means they know more about the concerns of living artists.

They keep making the situation worse.

21.02.2026 20:16 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Now it's putting out a non-apology apology, carrying on about being a woman/latina owned company, that they have so much history & have so much good they've done...

...it's like... well, you can still screw up, & you haven't addressed the issue or learned, dunno how you think this is going to go?

21.02.2026 20:11 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Manic Panic depends on the artistic & LGBTQ communities. The first got mad at their sudden pivot to using AI, called them out on social media, & then the company started making "jokes" that compared choosing to use AI to being LGBTQ, (everyone should be free to love who they love).

So. Damn. Dumb.

It's always amazing to see companies get very negative feedback from a particularly niche market they operate in & then want to passive-aggressively argue & completely dismiss their customer base having a hard "no". Seems like a good way to put yourself out of business.

21.02.2026 19:48 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

It really sucks, because for a lot of us, we've stuck with Manic Panic due to knowing what to expect from it after decades of use. It's predictable. Now it becomes a case of having to learn an entirely new product and hope for the best.

Okay, so your partner can't leave, they're stuck in a horrible situation. They handle your food, have access to you while you sleep, & are desperate and have nothing really to lose.

...how the hell do people not see where this is going to go in a lot of situations?

21.02.2026 17:50 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

What gets me is that they don't seem to recognize that just because your partner can't leave doesn't mean they have to like you or behave like they do. I'm with you, they don't think it through very well. Do they magically think this is going to repair relationships from hell?

What I'm getting from this is that if you are just emptying your fridge and pantry, dumping it into a pile, if you call it a "haystack", people will take it seriously.

I'm grumpy is what it boils down to. Heh.

It just seems like at some point, creators have to realize that if the public liked their work as it was, when it was released, it's a real risk to screw around with it.

20.02.2026 20:47 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

When millions of people are telling you that they love a piece of your work, you risk an unspoken implication that they are wrong for doing so if you constantly have to "fix" it, whatever they've loved is obviously not good enough for you to leave it as is. It's an unintended insult to early fans.

There are so many aggravating aspects to mammogram appointments, it'd be hard to decide what's the worst. That said, sitting around all day wearing no deodorant or antiperspirant is up there.

Very lightly Utahn. Andrew Garfield in "Under the Banner of Heaven" is the closest I've heard. I have a very generic General American accent, but on occasion I do show a tinge of Utah.

The other favorite is feeling motivated to clean the basement, at least a bit.

Otherwise, tornado season sucks.

One of my favorite parts of tornado season (February should not be tornado season, dammit) is hearing/seeing all the names of little teeny towns you'd never hear about otherwise, especially those places that have utterly ridiculous names. There's often a great story behind them.

the main reason to go after the rich is that if you don’t the entire structure of your society is predicated on the whims of people who are entirely disconnected from ordinary life

billionaires are simply too dangerous to exist, and any budgetary stuff that comes out of it is just a bonus

I also note that Boebert herself is 39. She gave birth to that son at 18. Boebert's mother gave birth to her at 18. It's generational bad decision making at its finest, & it does explain a whole lot.
