If I was on stage debating you on this. I would talk about narrative, rule of cool, and Cal Raleigh.

@minakimes.bsky.social im sick to my stomach with Dan’s defense of Stafford winning. It’s like he wasn’t even prepared. You had to help him make a better argument.

I’m not going with the “stats” in a dumb voice argument.

It’s a qualitative award voted in by the media.

A downy woodpecker sits on a spruce on a sunny winter day. "Ahh... Febuary" it says. Close up on it correcting "Febrary" then "Febberary..." then finally "Frebrury"

I don’t think any billionaire has their wealth in a vacuum it’s an accumulation of bad morals.

"They are paying contractors to tear down the East Wing but they're not putting money into the food bank." While volunteering at a food bank during the federal government shutdown, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz slammed the White House's decision to prioritize ballroom construction.

I remember there was a kid in high school who openly read manga and the rumor was it was actually hentai. Japanese media wasn’t just embarrassing to like for being “weird” it was also shameful for being sexist. Sexism is a valid criticism including vanquish but that also applies to western games.

People may joke about scary posters but anyone who grew up with them in your room it’s cool during the day less so waking up at midnight.

Having a desktop computer room was a great way to separate online and the real world. We don’t need feeds we need a list of websites we like written on a post it on the computer cabinet.

Conservatives are not inhuman monsters but suffer the same human condition we all do. Purpose and meaning of life plagued by doubt. Believing in the right wing point of view when you aren’t wanting is the path of least resistance.

Why should the world weigh on top of that as well? Why can’t people be content like him? The answer that escapes him is a lack of social mobility and capital. It’s not about guilting those who have more but acknowledging the benefits you received could have been shared to the next generations.

He exemplifies American individualism. He is self assured and unbothered by what other people think is best. Politics to him is sport. People who complain can go somewhere he can’t hear them. Don’t bother him is the message. It’s more comfort to be told everything is getting better without evidence.

My dad for example is very healthy and responsible. He’s content in many ways that few can have. He earned his money as a doctor who his patients adored. He can set aside his personal feelings and help family out including myself. He’s had to shoulder many hardships.

The first thing to know is that they aspire for comfort above all else. They can afford not to worry about being powerless. The presence of others suffering is existential not a material concern for them. It doesn’t affect them only in that they might envy what they have.

As someone who isn’t on bad terms with their conservative parent but only in that they have no filter around me despite knowing my politics I’ve always felt like I had a window into their world view that isn’t entirely performative talking points at the dinner table.
