Heh, words.
Those tricky things. π
Iβm watching the Lilith Fair documentary on Hulu and Sarah McLachlan was explaining the βfairβ part of the festival name and she said it was a play on wards, that βfairβ could mean βequalβ, βattractiveβ, or βa celebrationβ.
And I thought, βBut Sarah, βfairβ can also mean βwhiteβ.β π€·πΎββοΈ Ijs.
Anyway, back to work.
Bye bye.

Slowly but surely I will read literally everything @nnedi.bsky.social writes. It is all brilliant. And yes, my statement includes her newest book The Space Cat, and Chicken in the Kitchen. #readMoreBooks #TBRpile #sciFiBooks #read

The Best American Science Fiction and Fantasy is in my left hand. Balanced on my right knee is a buff colored cat, screaming his indignation at me.
My contributor copy of The Best American Science Fiction and Fantasy 2025 is here! Thanks again to @nnedi.bsky.social and @johnjosephadams.com for including my story. π

Your story was thought-provoking and refreshingly strange. Congratulations! πβ€οΈ

Saw a video about Dick Van Dyke turning 100. Then saw his many decades younger βwifeβ and justβ¦put down my phone and picked up the book Iβm reading.

When I was at the Oak Creek Vista Overlook near Flagstaff, I spotted a type of bird Iβve never seen before (if you have, good for you, but Iβm talking about me right now, π). A Stellerβs jay!
Thereβs something profound & joyous about an encounter with a bird type youβve never seen in person.

I do not even know how to wrap my head around thisβ¦which is why I refused to look until now.
Doesnβt sound like an option to me. Not at all.
Like I said, 12 novels.
I did too.
And then we get to hire lawyers and waste our time and money fighting billionaire level companies. You gonna do that? You ready for that? Ok.
Itβs so ironic.
People pirated shit selfishly. All these years. We creatives have endured excuse after excuse for doing it. Writing cease and desist letters; it was like playing whack a mole. And that pirating is what allowed these AI companies to do even worse. Great job, people. Thanks.
Iβd take THAT option (plus, real justice for doing it in the first place!!) over the pennies offered in the settlement any day. Itβs not about money. Donβt βcrawlβ my work. Period. I donβt want to be paid to allow AI to use my work, I do NOT WANT MY WORK USED TO TRAIN AI. I do not allow it.

Where is the option to scrub my work from AI?!
