Yes, it would be great to see more acceptance of part time UG in particular, especially built around space to work/care/travel etc A lot of support & scholarships seem to be for full-time students only
As far as I know, most of our HEIs are hanging in there for now, but I think budgets are very tight across the board!
A6 #lthechat underfunding leading the student experience to be more costly: financially (higher fees, accom, travel, taxes) and emotionally (unstable job market, time poverty, use of AI, dwindling planetary resources, social media)
A5 #lthechat properly funded programmes, including appropriate pay for PGRs, better support for part time learners, esp UG, on site accommodation, green spaces and a better staff student ratio
A4 #lthechat delighted to say that here in Ireland initiatives like Springboard (government funded/subsidised learning) have supported mature learners and/or job seekers to join HE, some for the first time
A3 #lthechat freedom to just learn or enjoy being a student, or space to teach creatively- standardisation of learning linked to employability is beneficial but often inflexible
