I don’t understand why people want to get these horrible diseases in the first place.

Dr Grofinkel, what do you think of the route some municipalities are taking of making docs or NPs part of the city payroll and hiring all the office staff? I know it’s not the record issue, but eioo it help?

Any chance you happen to know if you have to wait a full 6 months between vaccines to be eligible? I know protection wanes after 3 months and schools are high risk places for high risk people…

Good advice, but not always possible to follow. Crowded, poorly ventilated indoor spaces are….classrooms.

So sad to hear that. I was able to get a hepa for my class, and I mask, but most folks probably think I’m a worry wart.
I can’t unsee the info I’ve read and I can’t forget the damage C19 did to me when it affects me every day…

Yes, as someone living with Long Covid I absolutely understand the necessity, and yes, I’ve tried all the above minus leaving my profession -which is not an option for me or many others in my situation (it also doesn’t help the classroom situation if we leave and stop advocating. It’s exhausting.

This guidance is impossible to follow. If you work in a school, there’s no way to avoid crowded places or maintain physical distance. Heck, the classroom windows don’t open, so better air quality isn’t even an option. Were hooped until governments take this seriously.

There are so many students without the support they need. Teachers are trying, but in a class of 30 it’s impossible. Some students would thrive with 1:1 or small group but you get 0 EA minutes, or maybe EA for 5 mins at transition time.
Every student deserves a full year of learning at their level.

I wish. But quitting isn’t realistic. It doesn’t help me pay my mortgage and it doesn’t help improve the situation for those students.

Mr Hunt, question here. I’m in a classroom without windows that open. Our CO2 levels are all I can measure and they’re in the 1200s. 30 people in the room, door must stay closed. What would you do to help mitigate risks?

Perhaps we should put 2 or 3 in a row. We could fund some pretty sweet infrastructure with the extra cash…

I don’t mind that the government is making money from people speeding in school zones. (Here they’re all in school zones) It’s a win win fundraiser - either people don’t speed and schools are safer, or they do speed and we have money for services.

I fear this will end in a crappy public system and vouchers for private for those who can afford it. Anytime anything goes private, there’s an investor who gets paid above all other priorities.

Yes, it would be nice if we took this perspective. Elementary and secondary have been squeezed dry already. I’m also especially disappointed this year because a postsecondary program my own kid was hoping to go to next year has been cut because we can’t fund important things.

Will this suddenly provide support for students with special needs? Will this reduce class sizes? Will this ensure classrooms are stocked with the materials we need for learning? Will this make classes safer? Will this fix building repair backlog? My money is it’s a budget cut in disguise.

I’d like to believe that, but some folks are prone to messaging… and if it gets in their social media feeds, down the rabbit hole they go. I’ve seen folks who I thought were smart people fall down rabbit holes… but I guess when something is repeated often enough people start to believe it.
