Intervention factors associated with efficacy, when targeting oral language comprehension of children with or at risk for (Developmental) Language Disorder: A meta‐analysis Background Language interventions are complex behavioural interventions, making it difficult to distinguish the specific factors contributing to efficacy. The efficacy of oral language comprehension...

Oral language comprehension skills of children with or at risk for (D)LD can be supported.

Age was not associated with efficacy, indicating that 2–13-year-old children can benefit from comprehension interventions regardless of their age.

Great study from abroad. This begs the question, can parental reading and the presence of books at home overcome genetic predisposition?

Although I managed to turn my morning walks into a habit (thanks to audiobooks), I've never managed to do so for writing. This morning, I finished this helpful audiobook, "Write Now Matter What"; now, I don't have any excuse to start writing 15 min every day, as the book recommends. Wish me luck!

This great paper shows how controlling for genetic confounds can reveal *true* environmental effects, which we can then target effectively for intervention.

Books at home and reading to children is seen as causally related to childrens literacy development. Such studies often dont account genetics. In our study in JCPP, we do, and what happens then? 😊 with @drelsje.bsky.social @grandegerman.bsky.social

Are speech sound disorders risk factors for difficulties in language and reading skills?

This new meta-analysis says yes, and states that this "emphasizes the need for broader language
assessments and early interventions to mitigate future academic difficulties."
