As the people who insist otherwise try to burn the country, it's important to affirm that immigrants, from everywhere, are awesome, and America is better the more immigrants we have. You have to be just empty and vapid and unimaginably small to reject that.

Maybe you’re right that the policy positions of this one group are incoherent, but it’s still good politics for members in liberal districts to get their endorsement because voters trust them.

This feels inconsistent with the point you make later in the article, that members need the endorsements of these groups to win primaries. It’s not “regardless of the politics,” it’s because there really are a lot of liberal communities in this country and we get to have political power too.

This happened during desegregation though, right? Obviously both the moral and legal context were completely different, but a lot of what’s happening now seems like revenge for the civil rights movement. I see how someone who is not really paying attention might not know the difference.

I'm not sure where the disconnect is, but many of the same people who clocked the NYT pivot to the right with clear eyes struggled seeing NPR in the same light. I know you love the brand. But they use that strong brand to pull listeners a different direction when given orders from the top.

Within the industry, the only narrative that many hear are the loud voices of the hard-right CEOs who have taken over all the media channels, but the actual individual workers are still having huge impact and are still the ones who actually make things happen. Be sure to amplify that reality.

I don’t think opinions about immigration align with the traditional left-right axis, so there isn’t any reason to expect that Democrats would scale back ICE. Many right-leaning libertarians (the real ones, not the Trumpist ones) support open borders, while many labor unions are anti-immigrant.
