There are bigger events coming and we need all the help we can get.
We do appreciate those who do show up for everything but they’ll eventually tire out as well. We don’t have it in us to do this for 3 more years without the help of the community.
What about those that fought for women rights? Women’s rights to vote, equal rights for wowen? The sufragette movement lasted for years.
Don’t say you don’t have time because we have busy lives as well. We make time to do what we do.
Or when the 600 people crossed the bridge in Selma in 1965? When they reached the top of the bridge and saw the state troopers and police waiting for them, what did they do? They continued on.
I don’t know if most people aren’t volunteering because they’re scared or what. Turn that fear into action. Do you think that everyone before us wasn’t scared? What if those who came before hadn’t stepped up? Do you think Rosa Parks wasn’t scared when she was on that bus?
We are tired, emotionally and physically.
We don’t do this for recognition; we do this because it needs to be done. It’s not about us. It’s about community, and we need the community to step up and help us all the time, not just during national events.
Many people show up when it’s time for a national protest, but very few want to help with the everyday work that’s involved in running a grassroots group. Leadership for this group doesn’t just mean showing up to lead a protest. This is an everyday “job” that we don’t get paid for.

I got to finally meet #MandieLedkins IRL, met #CandiceDuvieilhforCongress, and met #AshLeighDunhamforSupremeCourtAssociateJustice again. All of these women are amazing and you should check them out.
I do not live in Amanda’s district but encourage anyone that lives in Congressional District 4 to check her campaign out. We need people that will show up for the people and that’s the type of person Amanda is.
Last night I went to #amandaforalabama campaign kick off in Fort Payne. Amanda shows up at a lot of our events to either protest or volunteer as a marshal. I usually will get a text a couple of days before an event asking if we need help. She shows up regardless if she’s needed or not.
