I suppose when you have @ericidle.bsky.social doing your voice acting, the temptation is insurmountable! Can't fault their shopping list chapter structure though... the Discworld games are a major reason why we went with the same in Foolish Mortals, haha.
The puzzle logic is incomprehensively convoluted, but the world felt like Discworld. What always stood out to me with the first games is how often they broke the 4th wall and referred to themselves as video games. DW2 even has "upped the animation budget" in the opening. As you said, very Python.
This has hit the nail on the head for me! I think you're exactly right. 1 is a better Discworld, but 2 is a better game.

After yesterday's @agotyawards.bsky.social we've spruced up our Steam page! Making an adventure game was a life goal I've had since I was 8 years old, so I'm really proud of the reception it's had. Making a full-length video game with no experience whatsoever wasn't so foolish after all!
So happy to share that Foolish Mortals took the Best Puzzles Award, the Best Soundtrack, Effects, & Dubbing Award, and tied with Rosewater @grundislav.games for 2nd place in the Jury Award.
