Time for another nautical edition of #RavineRambles

This time paddling newly opened mouth of Don River. Starting at a boat launch in the new Biidaasige Park in the portlands.

This place really is an impressive feat of engineering.

There's parking relatively close I think. I think there's a small parking lot north of Commissioners St on Old Cherry St. Might be some street parking but I can't remember.

It's such a great sight I definitely want to take more pictures of it this summer! Shared it with my friend Eleanor McMahon as well who is chair of the board of Share The Road. We recently organized the Ontario Bike Summit. @lanrickbennett.bsky.social was an award recipient and speaker :)

Quick last note is that he peak travel time (and some of the off peak I think) would have been higher. City staff also documented the subsurface utility/structural* relocation diff vs just tunneling under it. Plus, avoiding road lowering for CN bridge (unlike what was possible for Ontario Line/GO)

2/ our church council also did not oppose. July 2015 Council meeting (where the decision was deferred to October), church asked forpre-condition survey, mitigation, good communications (hi @femwriter.bsky.social) and other best practices. Same for present project with the tunnel portion decision.

And some claimed it would impacted the historic churches. As a member of one of them built in 1885/1929 I strenuously pushed back and said that was false. I showed pics of LRT in front of the Rome coliseum and I did my own video from Dublin over the course of two deputations. 1/
