1m1v will return because I think member democracy is in fact what this organization needs, but it's clear to me the roadmap to it needs to be by first bolstering chapter and state level bodies' support for it. National reform must begin at the chapter level.

I'll be waiting for some good quantitative analysis of votes though, to get a better of idea what the key turning moments were

I'm returning home, I'm gonna get back to chapter work, and I'm gonna do my part to a better world. 2027 will come and we'll do it over again, hopefully with a new wave of electeds and organizers coming out of the 2026 cycle.

I've been searching DSA convention on bsky for the hot goss but tbch a lot of it is second or third hand accounts from convention and I don't need the stress in my life of hearing people telephone game the intricacies and emotional moments that came from it

I'm not actually gonna DSA post that much more because I'm not that interested in broadcasting my thoughts to the whole universe but I will say I will sleep easier the day I never hear the DSA "left" or "right" again

With respect to comrades, anything that groups lsc and RS together is dumb as hell

It was ab explicitly partisan and hostile convention that had flames intentionally stoked by its organizers, and it ruined the ability to find consensus.

Instead of gathering around tables with catered food, people had to rush back and forth between restaurants, spending big city money with a convention that contained hundreds of small city delegates. People went to eat in factions, not coming together around crowded tables to talk.

Top level convention take: the failure to provide catering to the DSA convention while bragging about a 1.5m budget surplus shows how absolutely intentional a hungry and factional convention was.

Sounds like a good case for placement on the consent agenda :) we voted on multiple resolutions that won overwhelmly and they still deserves to be voted on

If there's anything that's been the most toxic discourse in the DSA it's that small chapters and big chapters are in some kind of factional war against each other, rather than being partners in a shared fight tbh

Sure feels that way as a trans woman watching the org I love spend more time doing procedural bullshit than putting an item with 78% support at the top so we can vote on it, send a message, and get on with the rest of the agenda.

Legit, skill issue. I can't *stop* my brain from coming up with new ideas all the time. I also wrote almost every high school essay/short story/research paper at the very last minute and still got A's on all of them. Pre-Google & Wikipedia, so I had to haul my ass to the library. 😒
