i think i need to begrudge small talk a little less and just ask to not be asked about work because i have people who ask about work and people who just tell me about themselves with no interest for my life and the latter gets under my skin infinitely more and makes me feel incredibly unnecessary

it's funny because it's all just corporate jargon to soften the blow of a rejection, in my case. but it's wild how much that softening actually matters to team cohesion and reliability among peers.
lrt has absolutely tested me at work these past few months i will not lie. sadly every instance was from ppl on my own team, which hasn't been the case until this past year versus all of my prior years.
The only true advice I can give you re: professional communication is donโt be a dick, donโt act like youโre better than anyone else, and try your best not to make other folksโ life harder.
