Finally got around to watching Train Dreams the other night. Fucking hell, what a beautiful film.
Even just visually, it’s wonderful. Colour palette and cinematography reminded me a little of The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.
A slow-moving, introspective masterpiece 🙌

This weekend felt like a throwback to one of those summer weekends from my childhood.
Walked Skyline from my house (Churton Park end - about 23km) on Friday.
Then spent yesterday and today with Rosie, riding bikes, going to the beach and then playing cricket until the sun went down.
It appears Cole Palmer is very much back in charge.
I’ve not really ever been unfit, just not strong.
I decided to change that at the end of October, so spent Nov stripping some body fat, then from Dec on trying to gain weight.
Have put on 3 kg since (now 81kg), which for me is fucking hard to do.
Goal is 85kg 💪
I’m 45 years old and just did my first proper pull up - two in fact.
Genuinely quite proud of myself 😂😂
Nothing at all to do with the fact no one will set foot in there since the name change though, huh Donny…
Realised this is on Soundcloud, in its entirety, tonight.
My only copy is on CD, so I’ve not had anywhere other than the car to listen to it for years.

I remember having my daughter in A&E with a really bad virus last winter. We’d been waiting for about two hours when I overheard two nurses talking about how there actually hadn’t been a Dr there for the last 30-odd minutes after a shift had ended.
Ha! We haven’t had a heat pump since we left Auckland - this is honestly the first time I’ve missed one.
Not sure if it’s a bias, because the proportion of football I watch is English, but I’ve often felt English refs have more of a tendency to want to be the main character. Some genuinely weird individuals come out of that system 😂
Particularly in summer - heat and noise have always been triggers for me, so if I can’t open a window for cooler air at the same time it’s just enough to start rustling my jimmies 😂
Granted I’ve only lived here for 3+ years, but this spring/summer has seemed excessive. I’ve realised the endless days like this actually make me angry.
