"These people were not hired to be serious. They were not hired to be professional. They were hired to support Donald Trump, never to say 'No' to him and to conduct the affairs of state...as if this is just a big internet fight where the guy with the funniest meme wins." - @radiofreetom.bsky.social
This brought back a memory. One of my friends had a battery-powered mechanical horse race game like the one in this photo. The plastic horses were placed on the tracks and the tracks vibrated, pushing the pieces to the finish line. We'd ccasionally break it out and bet on those races too. π
My cousin loved to gamble, and back then, unless you knew a bookie, the horses were the only game in town. We also went to Belmont (a beautiful track), Roosevelt and Yonkers (both trotters, which I hated), Meadowlands and Monmouth. And yes, I also hated OTB. π
Little pink houses for you and me. π«€
First horse track I ever went to was Aqueduct back in the late '70s. I was 16, my cousin (who drove us there) was 17. We looked close enough to pass for 18. The very first race, the horse I bet on fell coming out of the gate. That has proven to be an accurate predictor of my gambling success. π
I have always been firmly in the "hate losing more than winning" camp.
My wife was a realtor in the mid-1990s - early 2000s. She would tell me about people with lousy financials looking to buy expensive new houses, and they often had pre-approvals in-hand from mortgage companies. The term that was used was "creative financing" (wink-wink). π€¨
Priorities and stuff...
It's an oldie I like to trot out on occasion. π
The Ingraham Angle is always obtuse.
They got exactly what they voted for.
Back in the '90s when we still wore suits to work, they were my "everyday wear" office shoes. Probably even the same style of oxfords that Trump is buying for his minions. I'd wait for a sale at Macy's and buy a couple of pairs at a time.
Come on, we all know it's only fascism if it comes from the Fasci region of-
Crazy talk I tell ya...
The Russians are helping Iran kill American soldiers, but sure, Steve Witkoff, you miserable creep, *you* can take them at their word.
A few years back (IIRC, on Twitter), Tom had a thread about a movie poster he'd purchased for "Destroy All Monsters", so I know he has that one.
I live in Somerset County, NJ and I remember that too. Fortunately, it was only for a week or so. Also, I live only about a ten-minute drive from Mercer County, which wasn't part of the rationing.
They knowingly voted for a convicted felon and child rapist because that wasn't as important to them as their petty social grievances.
Is that a statue of Monster Zero/King Ghidorah in the bookcase above your head? π€
Greg on Keith is the only one that appears to be going the Bradys' way. π€
Tracey has a lot of pent-up rage that she's taking out on poor Jan. π
The Partridge Family in a death match with the Bradys - the crossover we've always wanted. π
Translation: Sure, Putin is giving Iran information that has likely resulted in the deaths of American soldiers, but hey, business is business. Art of the deal!
Practicing for when Paramount puts them under CBS News management.
I get that every generation has its own lingo, but I've heard it used in a professional setting and it makes me look at the person as being, at best, unserious.
I have a similar hate for "Imma" (as used for "I'm going to").
But the lady who was VP and was running against him didn't check every single box on my laundry list of demands for a Dem candidate so I had no choice but to vote for Mickey Mouse.

Voting? That's just crazy talk.
