I had several Bluebirds show up today. I was glad to be home to grab the camera and get a few shots.....these little birds are so vibrant against the snow on a sunny day. I have only just started to see them the last three years or so.

Shooting the Moon this morning at almost sunrise (6:40 am Feb 10 2026) and it is 47% and waning. Almost perfectly overhead it is a head spin to get it without a viewfinder on the Samsung WB800f but the wee critter did a good job.

Octopuses have been wandering in the oceans for 296 million years. They have three hearts and blue blood and they can even be elegant in their magical underwater dance.

Wow! This read-along of the NYT moment-by-moment leading to the murder of Alex Pretti should shake everyone awake. He was a Good Samaritan.

Agents fired at least ten shots in roughly five seconds. DHS and Pam Bondi claim Pretti approached them armed and intent on a “massacre.”

Goosander on what's left of an island on a scrape. The scrape is very wet due to the recent rain. The Goosander is a drake and has a dark green head and dark green wings. It has large white wing patches and white underparts. It has a thin red bill. Nearby is a Shelduck that is mostly white but with some green and ruddy patches. Also next to it is a Lapwing with green upper parts. On the water are Teal, mainly males. They are mainly grey with a white horizontal stripe along the side and, from a distance, brown heads.
