I keep seeing that news piece about butterflies predating the evolution of flowers ... which is interesting, sure. But what no one tells you is that they *also* predate the invention of butter.

Please let me know when you have a feel for rates. (I also have to update my website and think about how do it it on my side.)
@zachweinersmith.bsky.social saw your update (I'm a long-time reader). Out of curiosity, if I wanted to buy an ad for my information security consulting business on your site, might that be an option? Or if my kid wanted to do it to advertise art commissions? Is this sort of thing an option?
05.03.2025 19:23 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Seems like too many people are talking about the price of eggs being high and too few are talking about how so many people live so close to the edge in the U.S. that an increase of $3.00 is enough to destabilize our country.

Once we have science funding again, can we try to genetically engineer a chameleon that has one scale that is always 18% grey.
It would make photo processing a lot easier.
Sometimes I have smart thoughts. Sometimes I have:
"If Batman were on an island shrunk by Brainiac, he wouldn't be able to break free with his now lower-mass batarangs ... but if he used a stick to get more leverage on his throw, he'd paddle to a batlbatl battle in a brittle bottle."
I put together a quick guide on finding where your friends are moving to, from Facebook - how to better use FB's horrible search engine and how to find people on the other platforms once you see the moving posts.

AiC registration opened for people who already attended on Wednesday. That's why it's full - they give priority to kids who are coming back.
Sometimes you can email them, explain why that particular camp is preferred, and ask to be added to the waitlist manually.
War is driven by lack of resources and clashes of ideology.
Once 90% of the global population has been eliminated, there will be more resources for everyone left, and since the rich are aligned on ideology, the world will be more peaceful.
So is Rudolf.

21.12.2024 18:03 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0To me, it's about the economy of pain. Business owners (with employees) pay people to do the painful work they don't want to do. If technology can reduce the cost, or reduce the pain to such a point that owners can pay people less, that's what they'll do. (1/2)

Trump will fix this.
If people's jobs are replaced by AI, they have no money for expensive imported gas or going out to dine on expensive imported food.
There wouldn't be anywhere to go anyway, being too expensive to shop and all the museums closing for lack of funds, etc.
No traffic concerns.
Grammar be overrated.
28.11.2024 04:14 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0People don't pay $400+ for a night at a hotel. That rate is reserved for corporations.
(Which, and I can't believe I still have to say this, are *not* people.)
One step further: you can use ChatGPT to determine what NOT to get for someone. AI suggestions are going to be pretty basic and uninspired.
(Except for money. If people need money, just give it to them. A heartfelt gift can be better appreciated when people have food to eat and a place to sleep.)
