4-panel vertical comic. (1) 100 Years Ago [two people standing next to bicycle with small car nearby] PERSON 1: It’s too dangerous riding a bike with these cars around. I should get a car, too. (2) 50 Years Ago [two people between smaller car and bigger car] PERSON 2 with short hair: Small cars are less safe in collisions with larger vehicles, so I should get a bigger one. (3) Today [two people between big car and even bigger car] PERSON 1: Everyone has huge SUVs now. If I don’t get the biggest one, I’m putting my family at risk. (4) Soon [two people next to large armored car with spiked clubs attached] PERSON 2: If I don’t install more whirling spike clubs, I’ll be destroyed by all the other drivers who...

I think this is why I’m fascinated by Buttigieg. So far he seems the best practiced at taking nuance beyond the niche.

Framing the issue around the concept of learned helplessness was what made it click for me. Very interesting perspective

For single servings, I think aeropress is absolutely the way to go. It’s pretty forgiving, has a good amount of room for experimentation.
I’ll also throw in the Clever Dripper, which for all practical purposes is an aeropress but with more volume capacity.

the Mountain Goats - Until Olympius Returns YouTube video by the Mountain Goats

This song by @themountaingoats.bsky.social came out in the uncertainty of early covid. It helped me get through it. Now, four years later, it has new meaning and new life. A true gift.

When Mariner 4 sent the first digital image of Mars, engineers were too excited to wait for the computer to process an image, and instead colored the data in by hand.

The Toll of Cities’ Homeless Sweeps — ProPublica Cities often take belongings — including important documents and irreplaceable mementos — when they conduct sweeps of homeless encampments. ProPublica gave notecards to people across the country so they could explain what they lost in their own words.

American cities remove homeless encampments as part of “sweeps” and take the belongings of the people they move. ProPublica asked them to explain what was stolen from them and how sweeps have affected them. It’s devastating. https://projects.propublica.org/impact-of-homeless-sweeps-lost-belongings/

Saagar Enjeti tweets: "Probably a cold take but IMO Tokyo is the male fashion capital of the world: whether it’s western wear, suits, street wear the aesthetic is refined to the highest possible level

From the salaryman to the rebel teen they are impeccably dressed

It also helps no one is fat"

Why is Tokyo so fashionable? Some theories. 🧵

I work in the credit space. There are people with perfect 850 score, but it’s a tiny number. Age of credit lines and diversity of credit types usually are the difference.
But honestly, anything above 800 is treated identically. You’re good.

100% true. My life got infinitely better as an artist once people started leaving more comments. It's SO encouraging, you all LITERALLY kept me going.

Like > Share > Comment. Even if it's just a heart emoji, a heart eye emoji, or one word replies.

you simply must do this for yourself: set aside the time it takes to listen to the new Jon Batiste set. you don't have to like sit still fiending at the stereo in stillness but listen with enough attention to really clock the deep level at which he engages these tunes. really astonishing

I know this is a radical proposition but it's important: and I know nobody likes to think of themselves as not getting it: but: before you respond to somebody: on here, and maybe anywhere!: ask yourself: "have I actually understood the post or do I just have a thing I want to say"

I’d rather a Wikipedia-style donation system which I would happily contribute to. But as long as the core social media features are available to all, I think it’d be worth it.
