I think a lot of the weird objection to 'pregnant people' is because people somehow imagine it has something to do with trans women. It, in fact, does not! Pregnant people includes women, trans men, non-binary people, and also teenagers who are pregnant but are not actually over 18.

Sounds like a news presenter made a political choice on air. They should probably be reevaluating their position on the BBC

Ten years ago nobody in their right mind gave a single crap where trans people went to the toilet and the only reason anyone does now is because they were radicalised by Facebook and a handful of insane newspaper columnists and that’s just embarrassing all round

People understand they’re doing this just to keep contestants from bringing Palestinian flags onstage, right? It isn’t Pride flags that are banned. It’s flags other than a contestant’s country.

They said: “Most people, including some fairly senior ones, had no idea the interim guidance was coming until it was published late on the Friday evening. “They woke up to texts from family members and friends saying: ‘What’s going on?’ Staff working on sex and gender issues hadn’t been told, and nor had the duty press staff who were meant to explain it to the media. It was completely shambolic. “This is, understandably, a fairly inclusive workplace and quite a few staff have trans friends or even partners. They suddenly had to try and explain this guidance which made no sense. “The pushback has been really strong. Some stakeholders are saying they can no longer work with us. Loads of staff say they’re looking for other jobs. The approach from the chair and senior leadership has been really secretive and paranoid.”

This reads like more evidence that the interim EHRC guidance was drawn up by Kishwer Falkner and cronies, without input from neutral expert staffers.

We are going to have to be so intense about this. Completely flooding it and also fighting against them rushing it

Any member of our industry being willing to write about a manufactured “row” surrounding someone taking part in an inclusive dating show - you are at worst actively peddling transphobic propaganda, and at best contributing to the institutional bullying of people doing no harm.
