Lovely that some areas of grass on College Bank seem to have been left to allow the flowers & wildlife to thrive.
Hope this is the start of a #NoMowSummer
It's good to have a mix of lawn & mini-meadow #Mowsaic

just imagine working at microsofft and thinking “let’s spend billions, steal a load of intellectual property, and destroy the planet to make an interface to write bad essays” rather than “let’s update MS Word so users can comment on footnotes”

Work on controversial cycle lane in Greater Manchester town to start next month The cycle lane installation through Castleton sparked fury in the local community the first time around

#Phase2 is go! Because this uses a lot of existing quiet roads, building across the Silk St junction will give a usable route from New Barn La to Castleton even before the rest is complete. @triciaayr.bsky.social @walkridegm.org.uk

Occasional reminder that there’s no, “it’s too late, its over” for anthropogenic climate change. Every molecule of CO2 that doesn’t go into the atmosphere makes a difference. Preventing 0.1 degree of warming makes a difference. Every bit of climate resilience we build together makes a difference.

Cycling short distances instead of driving could save million tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions every year, transport charity says New figures from the Department for Transport have revealed that domestic transport emissions accounted for 28 per cent of the UK’s total in 2022, and have fallen by only 12 per cent since 1990

It's not just about greenhouse gas (though in a #ClimateEmergency that is important) - swapping your car for a bike for short journeys also makes your local area quieter, and helps with air quality @roadcc.bsky.social @triciaayr.bsky.social @walkridegm.org.uk

Strike day 4: A big day, in which a lot happened, but this was the absolute highlight. If there is a conscience of the Guardian, it may be Gary Younge. He made this speech, off the bat & nailed it. We are the true spirit of the Guardian & Obs. And we are here fighting to save our news org.
