Arguably scarier than Jaws (at least for anyone who works with AUVs)

The bergs in the sunny photos are much smaller bergs that broke off A-68, and were much closer. While A-68a was 23 km away, A-68p was about 2 km away at the time, between us and A-68a. The other glider was deployed the previous day, on the other side of A-68a and closer, but in poor visibility...

Scientists sent this glider to explore around a huge iceberg 🌊

For the first time, they saw the dramatic changes the berg's meltwater made to the ocean, up close.

Iceberg calving is a natural process - but these results will help us understand the climate impact of more frequent calving...

A rather portly king penguin seen from the front, lying on a sandy beach. Magellanic penguin looking up from a burrow in the ground, surrounded by grass and scattered white feathers. Rockhopper penguins taking a shower from a stream dripping down from rocks above. On top of the rocks are nesting black-browed albatrosses. A lone macaroni penguin surrounded by rockhopper penguin chicks. The macaroni is substantially larger.

Happy #PenguinAwarenessDay! Here are a few penguins to be aware of, photographed two years ago on Saunders Island and Pebble Island in the Falkland Islands..

How does glacier calving around Antarctica trigger underwater tsunamis? 🌊

An international team of scientists have been awarded Β£3.7 million to investigate this β€œunchartered scientific territory” using advanced technology.

Perhaps, depending on which floor the defenestration took place from (and which windows have been left open)?
