Oskar Werb has participated in the 2nd Summer Training School of the Wildlife Malaria Network (WiMaNet), taking place from August 18–22 at the Life Science Centre of Vilnius University. We’re thrilled that he has been part of this inspiring international event! #WIMANET

Today we started interviews with a representative group of @wimanet.bsky.social researchers 🎤✨ It was engaging, fun, and we’re excited to share them soon 🚀 Thanks to WG6 for making this possible!

Most importantly, the people that had an #STSMs shared their experience with all of us 🧳✈️ and also the results from the first #SummerSchool 👩🏽‍🏫 showing the importance of #WIMANET actions!

During these days, all the working groups updated their objectives and what they have achieved so far! From both #WG leaders and the participants

From the 25th to the 28th of August we enjoy the second #Workshop of #WIMANET!

This week has been just a pleasure for both teachers and students. Another successful #SummerSchool of teaching and learning a lot thanks to #WIMANET! 🦠🔬

Last day of #SummerSchool the students finished their projects and did really good presentations!

It was the most difficult part of summer school... They were everywhere but we couldn't see it! 🫣

We learnt about the different staining techniques you can use to find parasites and went to the hands-on practice 🔬

The third day of the #SummerSchool was entirely dedicated to the tissue stages of haemosporidians 🫀🧠🫁 Both #MelanieDuc and #TanjaHimmel did really a great job!!

With lots of help from Nubia, Ed and German 🫶🏽 We learnt a lot!

Of course, after theory, it followed a hands-on session 🔬 where we observed interesting parasites such as:

Yesterday we had a great day learning about the haematology and blood parasites of amphibians 🐸 and reptiles 🐢🦎 with extraordinary lectures by Nubia Mata and Ed Netherland!

We also have a great day talking during the coffee breaks ☕ and sightseeing Vilnius after the course🌇

After the theoretical lesson, we move straight forward to the hands-on practise with the microscope 🔬 and we spend here the rest of the day, learning to identify parasites and working in our students group project! 🦠🐦‍⬛🦅

Yesterday was the second day of the #WIMANET #SummerSchool and we received a super interesting lecture by the one and only Gedemias Valkiunas! He talked us about avian malaria and other blood parasites 🩸🐦‍⬛

And we finished the day with hands-on experience with the microscope 🔬 and started with the students project! We have samples from different animals 🐸🐢🦇🐦‍⬛🦅
