Authoritarians love "Gen AI" because it
- Sounds confident even when factually wrong
- Broadly conforms to & reproduces their biases, off the shelf
- Lets them create bespoke realities (text, audio, moving & still image) which agree w/ their biases
- Degrades trust in knowledge/evidence/expertise…

Graphic with information about a research study for undergraduates. Participants are eligible if they are 18 years or older, an undergraduate student, and they are studying in the US. They will be asked to listen to a 25-minute podcast and take two short surveys. It will take one hour or less.

Are you teaching undergraduate students in a language-related course this semester? Or, do you know some undergraduate students interested in language?
If so, I'd appreciate you sharing some info about a study I'm doing on podcasting and critical language awareness!

Fellow adhd and neurodivergent academic folk: how does your neurodivergence make you who you are as a scholar? I always hear about the struggles but I want more stories of our creativity and resistance, too

A meme showing a car swerving onto a highway exit ramp. The road sign says “actually paying for Netflix” (straight ahead) and “watching library DVDs for the rest of my life” (exit).

Happy to announce I bought a used DVD player and am joining the resistance
