Finally, we would like to express our gratitude to the Department of Political Science at the University of Oslo (@statsvitenskap.bsky.social) for its financial support of this major book project and collective effort.
Moreover, we appreciate the hard work of the editorial and production teams at Oxford University Press (@oxfordacademic.bsky.social). We are immensely grateful for their support throughout the entire production process.
We would like to thank all the authors who have contributed their own chapters and feedback to each other. We also wish to thank all the external reviewers for their valuable and constructive comments.
It serves scholars and students specializing in these topics, as well as politicians, journalists, and other informed readers interested in Norwegian politics.
The handbook is primarily aimed at an international audience, but it also allows Norwegian readers to contextualize familiar details both nationally and globally.
The authors also provide original analyses of specialized topics and historical trends. While research within political science is the primary focus, contributions from disciplines such as (public) law, history, sociology, and education science are also included.
Following an introductory chapter titled “Norway: A Stable Democracy in Flux,” 47 chapters provide foundational knowledge about the current Norwegian system. They present state-of-the-art overviews of key issues and findings drawn from the most relevant research in their respective fields.
The volume offers a thorough examination of Norway’s political institutions, politics, public policy-making, and international relations, providing an updated overview of significant political developments.
Kristoffer Kolltveit, @malfridbh.bsky.social, Bjørn Erik Rasch, and I have served as editors.
I am thrilled to announce the publication of the Oxford Handbook of Norwegian Politics! Over 70 scholars from various institutions in Norway and abroad have contributed their expertise and insights to 48 chapters on different aspects of Norwegian politics.
